The sample fifty websites in total was collected to see exactly what version of the popular blogging script was installed. ut of the fifty sites sampled the results were a little scary or “frightening to say the least” Kierznowski said. “In summary out of the first fifty blogs we selected forty-nine of them are potentially vulnerable to known attacks. Now the level of vulnerability was not discussed but some of the version numbers listed are no longer supported and that in itself poses a risk… Criminals use flaws found in older software packages to launch the ‘drive-by’ attacks by hijacking the websites where the Malware is hosted. \nIf that is not a big reason to upgrade then there is the feature aspect you might be missing. Most new versions of WordPress that were non-security related offered several new functions and bug fixes. The newest release (WordPress 2. 2) is just nine days old. It has no security fixes but contains several bug fixes that make websites using WordPress function better. The last version of WordPress to get a security fix was 2.
CBS Audience Network Adds 13 Community Social Partners

The new CBS Audience Network partners and their areas of functionality are: Automattic–blogging software (WordPress); Clearspring–widgets; DAVE Networks–social community platform; Goowy Media–widgets; meebo–instant messaging; MeeVee–video aggregator; MuseStorm–content syndication; Ning — social networking’ RockYou!–widgets; Slide–personalized photos and videos; VideoEgg–videos and video ads for communities; Voxant–news and advertising syndication (TheNewsRoom); vSocial–social networking for video. Content syndication partners for full-length CBS shows as announced last month include AL Microsoft CNET Comcast Joost Bebo Brightcove Netvibes Sling Media and Video. They wanted our help in setting up technology to facilitate daily postings as the trip progressed to handle other technology needs as they were identified and to serve as the trip photographer. Wiki and blog software were recent additions to our library Web site and this course offered an opportunity to pilot the potential academic use of wikis and blogs. We developed a site using MediaWiki software to present course content and WordPress blog software for participants’ daily reflections. All course participants had full access to add and modify content in all applications. Through this approach we hoped to encourage students to post their own reflections photos and assignments. And because we thought people might like to visually track our travel progress we established a Google Map that pinpointed the places we visited.
