Sign up for an account at Geesee. com and you’ll have an admin area from which you can generate chat rooms and get the code to add them as widgets to your blog. Geesee supports Wordpress Typepad PhpBB and more and will appear in-line with your content when added to your website. Geesee hosts a few chat rooms on its own site but its real strength is in being able to custom-create a chat room and add it to your site. Visitors to your site can either sign up for their own Geesee accounts or simply chat with other visitors using the default guest names they’re given when the chat room loads. When you visit your own chat room you’ll be automatically signed in with your Geesee username and you can interact with anyone who might be passing through and reading your blog. Geesee has over 26000 users and 7300 chat rooms created so far so it has some popularity.

Looking at some of the most popular tumblelogs I don’t see too much that’s horribly different from any other blogging platform except perhaps that the sites and entries are more sparse empty and more often posts by tumblelog owners are simply images or YouTube videos rather than any actual content. Some tumblelogs look just like any other blog with the same long-form posts that the FAQ claims tumblr isn’t for. In the end it looks like Tumblr is another blogging platform to add to the mix along with Wordpress Typepad Blogger and others. However where Tumblr excels is in its simplicity. It’s very easy to post video and photos whether you’ve downloaded them yourself and have them on your computer or you just want to repost them from another URL. Tumblr also includes a social aspect allowing other members to “friend” your journal much like Livejournal to keep tabs on your posts. The idea behind Tumblr is to keep posts as simple and short as possible: a photo here a video there no need for post titles and long paragraphs.
